Tuesday: Report cards go home during period 1; awards ceremony starts at 9:00am. 
NO BBQ this year.

Keep using your French over the summer... choose a French book at the library, listen to French music and watch French videos.

This week: We are finishing our independent novel study.

Please ensure that you have completed both listening activities: "Qui a inventé la BD?" et "Comment fait-on une BD?" Links for these videos on this page. Google forms were sent to student gmail accounts. 

All work must be finished and passed in by this Friday, June 14. This includes the independent novel study and overdue work. 

If you know that you will be absent on Friday, all work must be passed in by Thursday, June 13. 

803: Monday, June 10: Theme. What is the main message of the author?
Tuesday, June 11: Opinion. What did you think of the book. Explain, giving examples.
Thursday, June 13: Day to add final touches.
Friday, June 14: At the library. An extra day to finish. The assignment must be passed in at the end of this class. You cannot take it home on the weekend.

Day 8: Justice: Explain an injustice in your book. How does the main character overcome this injustice?
Day 9: Poem: Write a poem about your book. You can choose any style: diamond, haiku, acrostic, free verse, etc.

Monday: Day 5: Setting: Draw and describe the setting. Add 3-5 vocabulary words.
Tuesday: Day 6: Plot: Explain the plot up to this point. Add decorations.
Thursday: Day 7: Conflict/problem: What is the conflict in the story?

3. Fill out a section of the "one pager" (Each section will be evaluated at the end of the day.)

To study:
1. Complete the "Avant quiz." You can complete it more than once.
2. Review your reference sheet and copy the futur simple verbs. Then write the verbs without looking at the reference sheet.
3. Complete the online practice exercises found on this blog.

Monday, April 29: 803: Present your dialogue/sketch using French expressions. We will start the presentations after the quiz. The presentations that are not presented on Friday, will be presented on Monday, April 29. All groups must be ready to present on Friday.

Quiz: Thursday, March 7:
All students received a quiz review last week as a study aid.
1. Les prépositions: à, au, en et aux devant des lieux géographiques (les villes, les provinces, les pays). Exemple: J'habite à Orléans, en Ontario, au Canada.
2. L'expression "venir + de" devant des lieux géographiques. Exemple: Je viens d'Orléans. Il faut savoir comment conjuguer le verbe "venir" au présent.
3. Les verbes réguliers en -er et -ir au présent.
Exemple:
Je marche
Tu marches
Il marche
Nous marchons
Vous marchez
Elles marchent

Work this week: review for the quiz, verbs in the present tense, finish up questions from last week "C'est quoi, la francophonie?"

Presentation: Un drapeau de la francophonie

Tuesday, February 26: Three items due: 1. Drawing of the flag  2. Written work in complete sentences (to achieve a level 4, add some interesting facts about the country)  3. Oral presentation: memorized. 
Note: The written aspect of the project will be longer than the oral presentation. The oral presentation must include: the name of the country, the capital, the continent and the population. It must be memorized. Look up how to say the population in French.
Students will complete a listening activity while listening to the presentations - for a mark in listening.

Also this week:
Read the text, "C'est quoi, la francophonie?" and answer questions.
Watch the video, "Parle-t-on français ailleurs dans le monde?" and answer questions.

Practice asking and answering questions while correctly using prepositions before cities,provinces and countries: à, au, en, aux. Research a Black Canadian or a person who has played a part in Canadian history or society. Present this person to the class. Listening activity to accompany.

804: La francophonie et les prépositions (Wednesday)
Present your mind map/brainstorm of la francophonie. Continue practice with prepositions before places (à, au, en, aux).

Important dates:
Thursday, February 7: Sweater day - Journée de la petite laine. Wear an extra sweater because the heat will be turned down at school!

We are watching the documentary: "Inside Hana's Suitcase" and answering reflection questions.

Question 1: "Why is important to learn about the Holocaust?"

Question 2: "George suffered a lot because he lost his family. How did Fumiko help George? How did George help Fumiko?"

Question 3: "What new information did you learn in the film?" or "Note one difference between the film the book."  And "What is the surprise about the suitcase at the end of the book?"

Test on La valise d'Hana: Thursday, January 24. (Use the questions from "Cinq ou la Chance" as a review."
